I can`t afford it! ＝ そんなに（お金に）余裕がない！

英語を習いたての人は「I have no money！ 」などと言ってしまいがちですが、
ニュアンスをちゃんと伝えたいときはこっちで。Afford は、動詞で「（金銭的に）余裕がない」
という意味で、全くお金が無い訳ではないけれど、「そこまでは払えない。」的な言い方です。
時間などに余裕がないというときも使えます。

もちろん本当に「貧乏！！全くお金なし！」な時は「I have no money!」を使ってもいいですが、
そんな時は「I`m totally broke!」と言ってみましょう。よりネイティブっぽいですよ～！

ゾーイ：うん。私は「アナスタシア」で、眉毛直してもらいたい。

Rachel:We are definitely going to “Kitson” for our autumn clothes!
レイチェル：絶対「Kitson」で、秋服買おうよ！

Carolina: How about going to “Koi” for dinner?
We might meet some celebrities there, you know?
カロリーナ：夕飯は「Koi」に行くってのはどう？セレブに会えるかもよ～！

Daisy: OK…, we`ll go to fix our eyebrows, then go shopping, and eat Japanese food….wow, it looks like an expensive trip! I can`t afford it!
デイジー：オーケー、まず眉毛直して、買い物行って、日本食食べて・・・
なんだかすごい高い旅になりそう・・・私、そんなにお金に余裕ないよ！

Zoe: Come on, Daisy! This is a special trip for all of us!
ゾーイ：デイジーってば！この旅は皆にとって特別なんだから！

Daisy: I guess…we are gonna have lots of fun for sure…ok, I`ll do it.
Can we go out somewhere cool after dinner?
デイジー：そーだね・・・楽しいよね、きっと・・・わかった、じゃ行こう。
夕飯の後は、どっかいけてる所に遊びに行かない？

Carolina: I`ll look into it. I`m sure there are so many cool clubs and bars there.
カロリーナ：私、調べとくよ。絶対沢山クラブとかバーとか、いけてる場所あると思うよ。

Daisy: Thanks! But not too expensive place! If I become totally broke
after this trip, somebody has to feed me for a while!
デイジー：ありがと！でも、あんまり高すぎないところね！もし私この旅の後超貧乏になっちゃったら、誰かがしばらく私にご飯食べさせる羽目になるからね！

Rachel: Don`t worry Daisy, we are gonna take care of you!
レイチェル：心配しなくていいって、デイジー！うちらが世話してあげるから！

冒頭にもありましたが、「I have no money!」は使いがちですよね。
でも、これは「本当に一銭もナイんです・・・」という感じなので、
これからは「I can`t afford it!」で切り抜けましょう！

さて、今回も使えるフレーズがたくさんありましたね。

みんな、ロスで何したいか考えた？

I`m sure there are so many cool clubs and bars there.
絶対沢山クラブとかバーとか、いけてる場所あると思うよ。

We are gonna take care of you!
うちらが世話してあげるから！

いろいろな単語を入れ替えると、かなり使えます。
こういった会話って、教科書には無いけれど、すごくツカエルと思いますよ。

I’m so into it! ＝ すごいはまってる！

人や物、何でも使えます。自分の中で流行ってるもの、夢中になってるものに使ってみてください！もちろん、好きな人に対しても使えます。I’m so into him! と言ったら、「かなり彼にはまってる！」という意味になります。

Zoe: So, when did you start going to this gym?
ゾーイ：で？このジムにはいつから通い始めてるの？

Daisy: Umm, a few weeks ago, I think.
デイジー：うーんと、2、3週間くらい前からかな。

Kazuo: And you go there everyday now?
和夫：で、今は毎日行ってるの？

Daisy: Well, not everyday…maybe 3 times a week?
デイジー：うーん、毎日ってわけじゃないけど・・週に3回くらいかな？

Zoe: That often? I never thought you liked working out in the gym that much.
ゾーイ：そんなに頻繁に？そんなにジムで鍛えるの好きだって知らなかった！

Daisy: I know! I hated that kind of place, it just didn’t look like a fun place to exercise.
デイジー：そーなの！私もああいう場所大っ嫌いだったんだ、楽しくエクササイズできるような場所に見えなかったし。

Kazuo: Is there anything special about this gym then?
和夫：じゃあこのジムは何か特別なの？

Daisy: Well, my friend Bruce introduced me to this personal trainer, Ben, and he is great.
We talked a long time about how to change my shape and he made a special program for me.
I just started and it’s not easy, but I’m so into it!
デイジー：うーん、ブルースっていう私の友達がパーソナルトレーナーを紹介してくれてね、ベンっていうんだけど、彼がすごくいい人で。かなり色々話をして、どんな体型になりたいとか、で、特別メニューを作ってくれたの。始めたばっかりだし簡単ではないけど、かなりはまってるんだよね。

Daisy: OK…we are here!
デイジー：ここだよ、着いた！

(Go into the gym)
（ジムに入る）

Ben: Hey Daisy!
ベン：やあ、デイジー！

Daisy: Hi Ben! I’m here again! I really enjoy working out here!
Can we talk about our program later?
デイジー：ベン！また来ちゃった！ここでのエクササイズ本当に楽しい！
後で、エクササイズメニューについて話したいんだけど・・・

Ben: Sure. See you in a minuite.
ベン：もちろん。後でね。

Zoe: Ah, I got it, Daisy! You are not into the gym!! You are into HIM!
ゾーイ：あー、分かった、デイジー！ジムにはまってるんじゃなくって、彼にはまってるんでしょ！！

Daisy: NO! I’m so into this gym, he’s just my personal trainer!
デイジー：まさか！！ジムにはまってるの！！彼はただのトレーナーなんだから。

Zoe: OK…so maybe I can have him as a trainer as well!
ゾーイ：そーなの・・じゃあ、私も彼にパーソナルトレーナーになってもらお！

Daisy: No!! He’s MY trainer! You can have someboday eles!
デイジー：だめ！！彼は私のトレーナーなんだから！だれか違う人にして！

Zoe: See? You like him!
ゾーイ：ほらね？彼の事好きなんでしょ？

Daisy: Well…he’s so cute!!
デイジー：だって・・・彼、かわいいでしょ！

そんな中、自宅でひとり、ゆっくりワインを楽しむことにはまっている私。
マイペースが1番！　なんて思い始めて早何年かしら。。。
